Sometimes, it’s simply quicker to start all over again. I’ve been attempting to complete my latest portrait since April 2022, but having spent part, or indeed most, of the last two years either sofa surfing or moving and all that that entails, the first attempt had to be ditched as it had completely lost its raisin d’etre. But I’m now settled back in West London and with a cool breeze wafting through my teeny flat the joy and passion of painting is back once more. It’s cramped here but where there’s a will there’s a way. The painting shown above, is a ‘grisaille’ under painting, as more and more of my painting shifts towards the “Old Masters Style”. The process is more involved, but produces a fuller bodied, more lustrous painting. The photo above was taken in the middle of March but throw in an exquisite month long sojourn to Venice and Corsica and you can see why the finished artwork has yet to appear. It won’t be long so check-in to my next month’s blog to see the finished painting.
